Your piece is made by a person, not a production line.

From selecting the wood to the final coat of finish, I am involved throughout the creation of every custom Fox Lake Furniture piece.

Wood is selected based on the project, natural character, and quality of the material available. Much of the wood used by Fox Lake Furniture is sourced locally, and every piece is allowed to show the grain, texture, knots, edges, and variations that make natural wood beautiful.

Depending on the project, the process may include cutting, flattening, sanding, engraving, epoxy work, assembly, and finishing—all done with the same goal:

Create something beautiful enough to display and useful enough to become part of everyday life.

That combination of craftsmanship and purpose is what makes each Fox Lake Furniture piece functional art.

1. Tell Sam What You Have in Mind

Start by filling out the custom project form below.

Share what you’d like made, approximate dimensions if you know them, colors or materials you have in mind, and anything else that helps explain your vision.

Have inspiration photos? Send those too.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out before reaching out.

2. Work Through the Details

SI will personally review your request and follow up to talk through the project.

Together, we’ll work through details such as size, wood species, design, epoxy colors, engraving, functionality, timing, and other options that may affect the finished piece.

3. Bring Your Piece to Life

Once the design, pricing, and project details are approved, I will gets to work.

Because every piece is individually handcrafted, the natural character of the wood becomes part of the finished design—making your piece truly one of a kind.

Every Piece Is Unique

Wood is a natural material. Grain patterns, knots, coloration, live edges, and other characteristics will vary from piece to piece.

Those variations aren’t flaws.

They’re what make handcrafted woodwork impossible to duplicate exactly.

Pricing

Custom pricing depends on the size of the project, wood species, materials, epoxy work, engraving, design complexity, and other requested details.

Sam will discuss pricing with you before your project moves forward.

Timeline

Each project is individually planned and handcrafted, and timelines vary depending on the complexity of the piece and Fox Lake Furniture’s current project schedule.

If you need something for a wedding, anniversary, holiday, housewarming, or other specific date, include that information with your request.

Materials & Finishing

Projects may feature natural hardwoods, locally sourced wood, epoxy, engraving, and other custom details depending on the design.

Food-contact pieces are finished using food-safe products such as Walrus Oil. Vegan-friendly finishing products are also available upon request when appropriate for the piece.

If you have an idea that does not fit neatly into one of those categories, you can still send it through the custom work form and see what is possible.

  • No. Fox Lake Furniture does not currently require a deposit for custom projects.
